The Deathknight is essentially "an evil warrior/necromancer". They are a hybrid class that utilizes dark arcane energy in addition to a weapon. They are the embodiment of all that is Evil in the world.
Death Knight is a Paragon Class. As such it requires having achieved, but not attained, level 4 in two classes. One class must be a mage type and the other a warrior type. Examples are Necromancer and Warrior (the most obvious choice, but not the only possible combination.) There can be only one master and one apprentice per Realm.
The Deathknight devotes themselves to the pursuit of imbuing their physical body with eldritch energy so that it does not rot or cease to function after death.
Deathknights have found in the arcane a way to become immortal. They slowly train their body to no longer require sleep. They become as the Undead (or demon, devil. celestial, elemental) even before they pass from life. Once they die, they become Undead (or demon, devil. celestial, elemental) and continue to function.
In the personal devotion to self-annihilation they have crossed the borders of life and death. To that end, they are able to craft and animate a skeletal minion to do their bidding. those of sub classes can create that which fits their choice.
They are armored allowing D3 on the meter. They can also bear a magical weapon. They can not use magical artifacts like books, wands, staves or scrolls. They can choose 2 weapons, typically these are two-handed but not required. No range weapons are allowed. Any Class can use a Staff as their Chosen Weapon.
They gain an Enchanted Weapon upon attaining Death Knight. (Once again, see the trainer for particulars)
They cast spells of eldritch energy focused through their bodies much the same as a lightning rod attracts electricity. They refocus that energy to their own often nefarious purposes.
The final stage of a DeathKnight is to become and Undead (or demon, devil. celestial, elemental). This requires the aid of a very powerful Necromancer. Once the ritual is complete the character becomes a Revenent. On the Battlefield the player will use Archetype on the meter but off the battlefield Revenant can be worn.
The DeathKnight Lord gets a Single Resurrection in the event there is NO Archdruid on the Battlefield.
