An Interview with Necromancer Ondine by Clementientje
The Guild Master Ondine hears the Lady Clementientje approach long before she stepped onto the stone entry outside the door. She walks in her biped form to open the door and welcome the Journeyman into her cave, so as into to alarm her with her dragon form. After all, it is their first time meeting and Ondine has learned in the past how to quell the fears of humans and elves in their first encounter.
She opens the cave door with a flair of respect and nods to the guest,"Welcome Lady Cleмenтíenтje. Please come in and warm yourself by the fire."
Ondine had made sure to remove any of the items that might alarm her guest . She wanted the Lady to be at ease, and allow her to proceed without fear or distractions.
Arriving at the dragon's cave Cleмenтíenтje looks around with wide eyes. She tries not to fiddle with her dress so she wouldn't show how nervous she is. The necromancer opens the cave for her as she bows in respect "thank you for allowing me inside " she walks to the fire where it is warm " I am so grateful and honored to be allowed to interview you for the GA anniversary " she smiles wide
The necromancer notices the slight elongation of her ears and immediately realizes this is a crossbreed before her...much like the Arch Mage Faulkes. Ondine scowls a bit.
"Aye ,the Great Alliance has served us well in unifying the realms and finding common ground to keep the peace. At this time , they all come together to support the Queen's land against real threats and monsters we had not even known existed."
With much care Cleмenтíenтje proceeds. Not being in her comfort zone she takes a seat and starts taking a piece of parchment with a quill and ink to takes notes "I am much trained at doing this... not a worry for me to spill any of the ink on your belongings" she says all nervous "it is indeed wonderful all come together... " the first question might be an easy one " How long have you been in this realm " she asks while dipping her quill in the ink
Ondine relaxes in her chair," We have relied on the Magician Lord Malikith Virtanen and his centuries of existence to bring us knowledge of a past that lay hidden for as long. And I arrived from the land of Triskele with the Regent Malakyte Thorne and the Arch Mage Pak Haedong , That was shortly after the realm found its foothold in the land of the Hoon."
Ondine continues,"They sought to find good leadership. And since our fine land had sunk into the sea they welcomed us here and made good use of our skills. And in exchange we promised loyalty to the Queen and her subjects.
This came easily. The Queen Comet is Grace beyond words, with a long line of Royal blood seeped in long histories of their Elven kind." The necromancer pokes the huge logs in the fire and watches the flames spark and rekindle and increase the flame. "I am curious...what brought YOU to our fine land?"
Cleмenтíenтje nods as she takes notes "so you where one of the first to arrive " she is a bit shy as she looks up to the Lady Ondine " I have met Magician Lord Malikith Virtanen only once. He is a great man. Our Queen Comet I have still to meet in person. The rumors of this Queen made me travel here" she takes a deep breath and proceeds "Have you achieved what you set out to do here " she asks as a next question
We all have out goals and are hopeful that we achieve the best of what we are. But to tell you I would have to ...devour you. " Ondine roars with laughter as she sees she has made the little halfbreed uncomfortable. "DO not worry, I have promised the Queen that I would not devour any creature that talks."
Clem then adds a little more to the question why she is here "after my human mother died I am in the search of developing my elven side. Being born out of the uncommon union between Elf and Human I never knew my father but I have always known I am different " she wiggles her tiny elven ears
"Excellent question Lady Cleмenтíenтje .My goal is to protect the Queen and her subjects and to keep those that hope to destroy our world at bay." Ondine sits back as she again observes the obvious marriage of two races in the little creature before her. " That is a worthy thing ...to seek one's heritage. You might find you have a legacy to be proud of or to be reckoned with." she chuckles softly.
Cleмenтíenтje shifts uncomfortable in her chair as she hears the roars "then I thank my Goddess I can talk" she bites her lip and nods in understanding to the protection of the Queen and her subjects. She gets herself together "yes my heritage is really worth exploring... and I found myself being trained as a healer which really speaks to me as the being I am "which brings me to wonder if you have any children " she watches the woman hopefully not to have crossed a line with this question
"I have an adopted Daughter of the Sereg'wethrin. The story of which will come to fore when she returns. It seems her foul brothers have found ways to keep her from this land and from my presence. " Ondine lets out a low growl thinking of the past and her inability to control her daughter. "She is feared by some but she is bonded to the Queen and holds an esteemed place in the Lady's Court."
Hearing the growl at the tale of her daughter being kept from this lands Clem shakes her head "That is so wrong... I really do hope she can return to you soon... Is there no one else who could help or assist into getting her back home? " she stares into the fire remembering her own mother who is no more she dips her quill in the ink again and continues "Over all those years living in these lands can you tell us about a memory of a favorite moment you encountered and why?"
Ondine pauses for a long time as she ponders such a questions. "A strange question for a dragon. We live the long life and have both profound and meaningful memories as well as ...well...those things we hope to forget. Let me think"
Clem shifts in her chair knowing she is firing questions at the great Lady sitting in front of her and tries to calm herself down not to get carried away with the interview and to give her time to answer
"The arrival of my daughter had more profound effects on my path than I had expected. I knew she would be of great value to the magics of my profession as well as a protector of the Queen. ' Ondine smiles ever so slightly,"I suspect that I did not expect her to touch the pattern of my life in such a way that I actually miss her. " She ponders as she looks off in the distance,"Curious indeed."
Then leans in ever more curiously to the lady Clementientje,"What might be YOURS?"
Cleмenтíenтje bites her lip again being surprised by these words not sure how to answer the great Lady as she can't read her emotions " I really do hope she returns to you soon... " she says and feels the questions backfiring she scratches her head "can I say you are hard work to interview " she gives her a warm smile " I have enjoyed every moment of my time here... I think connecting to my Goddess and being of help to heal everyone I can on these lands is so far... actually this interview might turn out to be one of my favorite moments " she grins
Ondine nods stoically as if her observation is inevitable. "And I find your curiosity to be refreshing. Your seeking knowledge of self and those that reside in the realm to be potential of great wisdom and leadership. You would have made a fine Mage, but for your worshiping a deity. You see, mages consider worshiping deities to be misplaced. All things die...thus abandoned temples and alters . We are the thinkers and scientists of our time.
But we need our healers and the powers they obtain form their "Gods and Goddesses."
Ondine smiles."if you are ever of the mind to hone the skills of a mage and learn to use your WILL instead of the will of your deity. Come talk with us."
Cleмenтíenтje smiles wide at her words and bows " thank you... well I still have so much to learn... but I will get there eventually " then she frowns " I followed my instinct, my feelings and my connection... but I have greatest respect and I hold the mages in very high regards " she takes a deep breath and hopes she brought enough ink to note everything down " maybe an even more personal question... can you tell us one secret about yourself that no one knows yet"
The Guild Master allows another roar of laughter." A Mage is all about secrets! but there is one thing I can reveal to you that no one knows and it is not harmful to anyone if they do know. For you realize our secrecy is for the protection of the uninitiated.
Cleмenтíenтje pouts her lip a little at the earlier words" well my own will is also quite present... time will tell.. who wins... me or the deity" then she almost falls out the chair hearing the roar of laughter and smiles a little herself she nods to the words in understanding
Ondine pauses a bit then reveals in a whisper, "Ondine has a soft place in her heart for the son of Dragolich the Dragon King...the Lord Draco. However that is no secret. I suspect it has been rumored , since we often hunt in the same fields. He is a bit of an enigma and has a long history with the Queens ancestors. " Ondine pulls up and sits rather tight in her chair wondering if it wise to discuss her companion's history.
Clem tried not to chew her quill in anticipation of the secret and then hears the words being whispered she makes sure she notes it all down correctly " well if a rumor is confirmed I think that is also a big deal isn't it " she smiles wide knowing the feeling of being in love so well " I do hope in the future maybe there will be a mutual interest... or maybe there is? " she asks being cheeky
Ondine nods rather nonchalantly ,"Perhaps. But at this time there is no use for such affections. I have a guild to run and many students to tend to. The long life will provide such things if it is in the lands best interest."
Cleмenтíenтje nods to her words "yes of course serving the lands is always priority... if we are not safe there is no possibility for affections anyway " she carefully looks around the cave " this seems like a rather safe and cozy place " she looks through the scrolls if there are any more questions to ask being a bit confused she hopes she sort of asked them all " I want to express my gratitude for taking the time to allow me to do the interview " she smiles wide
The Guild Master Ondine immediately stands,"It has been my pleasure and I am glad we have met. I will be interested in your progress as you serve in the Queen's realm. You are welcome to come visit at any time. Allow me to open a portal to your home.Once i open it you merely have to think of where you wish to be...and step through."
Clem also stands when the great Lady does... not being as nervous as she was to start with she bows deep " I wish you safe paths and thank you for the portal " she waves her goodbye as she steps through and thinks of the healers hall
The Necromancer Ondine waves a small gesture with her taloned hand and slices a space in the air before her. Then steps back as the lady Clementientje fearlessly steps through. and thinks..."Aye she would make a fine mage."
She opens the cave door with a flair of respect and nods to the guest,"Welcome Lady Cleмenтíenтje. Please come in and warm yourself by the fire."
