Sylvhara is allied with a large number of realms in the "Great Alliance" (the GA). The Alliance has been in existence since Nov 16th 2007. The Alliance engages in intersim battle between realms. We share events, classes, tournaments, and many activities with our Alliance partners to keep our players active and busy.

Yet, in order not to disturb ongoing roleplay, we kindly ask you to follow some basic do's and don'ts:
- If you approach the vicinity of ongoing roleplay, please keep your conversations in IM, so the roleplay is not disturbed.
- If possible, please wear adequate clothes which will help you blend into our fantasy environment.
- Visitors who wish to participate in roleplay, please read and appreciate this notecard and accompanying notecards before you engage in roleplay. Please adhere to good standards of roleplay (no godmoding, no metagaming... please wiki these terms if you are unsure what they are) and make sure that your roleplay does not lead to major disruptions of ongoing storylines; i.e.: stay away from intensive combat, kills, destruction... anything that would have long term consequences for those who are here often.
SYLVHARA IS A MATURE REALM. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IS PERMITTED IN THESE LANDS AT ANY TIME.
NO CHILD AVATARS ARE ALLOWED.
NO CHILD AVATARS ARE ALLOWED.
Small adults and tiny fae are permitted as long as they look and speak like adults.
All are welcome to visit but, Sylvhara is NOT A SLAVE CULTURE. Please do not openly RP master/slave scening or explicit sexual behavior.
Be Sim Friendly
Second Life is a wonderful world and very well suited to roleplay. But it has its weaknesses and flaws. We all can help to keep the sim performances and the experience optimal if we help to keep the sim load to a minimum. Please do not use laggy attachments like radars etc.
Note: Dragon avatars are laggy by design - a group of dragons can easily bring a sim down. So if you play an Ancient (dragon), please prepare a smaller, lower-prim dragon av or, biped form which you can assume in laggy and highly busy times.
Please keep particle effects and similar heavy-load effects within reasonable bounds.
Please do not litter our lands with objects...if you rez something, make sure you also clean up when you are done with it. As a rule of thumb, your rezzing should be related to ongoing roleplay. Nothing above 20 prims should be rezzed without permission of your race or group leader, or above 40 prims without having approval from an admin, even if only rezzed for a short time. Objects you would like to see in the sim long term (more than a few minutes), always need approval of the admins/owners, regardless of prim count.

Becoming a Regular Player
In order to become a "regular" roleplayer, you would want to join the main group "SYLVAN ELVES" for our realm, as well as related groups and guilds, based on your character's race and interest (more about races is listed in section 3). You may join the main group of "Sylvan Elves" and "Light & Shadow Roleplay Group" simply by using SEARCH, as it is open enrollment. For all other groups, please contact the person listed for membership.
Magic and Healing
All casting, magic and healing is taught and managed through the guilds. If you have chosen to play a character that has special abilities such as magic or healing, please join a guild of your interest to learn our allowances and restrictions for our game.
Creating a Character
Please take some time to think about your character and choose wisely in terms of race and profession. You may wish to take advantage of the many RP classes given in Sylvhara. You do not need a 50 page background story for your character, yet you should have a good sense of who you are when you actually start with RP. As time goes by, your character will gain in depth and evolve naturally. No character can be "perfect" or superior to all others, so please plan for both strengths and weaknesses of your character.
