An Interview with Kaella Coy by Dishan Cal'Der
Kaella: Kaella's breathing echoed softly across the training yard: deep inhales followed by explosive exhales as she repeatedly pulled herself up to the bar bolted to the stone wall. "Good morning, Dishan," she said, between pull-ups, "What can I do for you?"
Dishan Cal'Der: Dishan is a bout to patrol the area at the hall of arms, check on recruits and maybe stop into the tavern, when someone gets his attention. He smiles to see the commander Kaella doing her own morning routine on the pull up bar, "I was just about to do a ten mile run," he says as if bragging, then chuckles a bit, "No, I was just checking on everything." Dishan tilts his head as he watches her movements, "But, since I have you here, you could do me a favor, perhaps?"
Kaella: nods, not slowing down, "Perhaps." she chuckles
Dishan Cal'Der: He grins, "Just some questions really, were putting together a local rag, just a snippet of some of the local folks.... Three questions?" He sees that she just keeps going and thinks on how fine tuned she is and focused, even when speaking to him.
Kaella: dropped from the bar and turned, "Interesting. Alright," she padded to the wall where her towel was and plopped down to catch her breath and wipe the sweat from her face, "I will do my best to answer."
Dishan Cal'Der: Dishan gives a nod as she moves to her towel, "Its appreciated.. So Commander," he smiles to her now as he starts to takes a small leather folder from his belt. Within it are some parchments and a piece of lead, Dishan straitens the papers out a bit, "lets start with your time here.. How long have you been here, a part of Sylvhara?"
Kaella: ponders for a moment, "Oh, it's been a bit over five years now. I was advised to come train under Ean Paderborn, who was the ranger commander at the time. He was a bit of a legend, so I jumped at the chance."
Dishan Cal'Der: "Great opportunity indeed, and it has set you on your course no doubt, your a Ranger commander now yourself." he nods in thought as he scribbles down her words.. "So was this your goal? Or did you have 'other' accomplishments set as goals prior or during this training?"
Kaella: chuckles, "My immediate goal at the time was just to improve my skills. The training I received in Uhre was great, but I struggled with close quarters fighting. I was always decent with the bow but I couldn't seem to get the hang of sword fighting. That was my focus. But, over time, sure, my vision expanded. I learned the healing ways to be a medic as well as a fighter. But, my goals were always short term. What is right in front of me? What can I learn next? That sort of thing. Honestly, to take over command was never the point for me. It was a bit of a shock when Ean asked if I wanted it."
Dishan Cal'Der: Dishan is focused on getting her words right, he nods as he listens, then he stops and studies her for a moment, "Well, you are a force to be reckoned with, that small frame of yours does seem to hold some serious explosives, ey?" he gives her a chuckle as he looks to the the written words again, "and the future then?.. Do you see long term as well or do you keep it up close and reachable?"
Kaella: smiles a little, "Thank you, I do try." she dabbed at her face again with the towel, "The future ... the future is .... " she stopped, trying to find the right words, "There are always plans, I have to think about how to advance the rangers and react to threats, but who knows what will happen tomorrow, or 5 minutes from now? I still try to keep my goals close and reachable, while being ready for whatever may come. I can't worry about what might be years ahead. Too much to do right now," she laughed. "I don't even know how long I will live. And I know that is true of most people, but at least they have some idea of roughly how long. Humans know that 70-100 years is about right. Dunedain can reach 300-ish. Elves, get millenia but even they aren't truly immortal." she looks over and shrugs, "I have no idea. There isn't enough known about what I am. So I look to the now and the near future and handle that to the best of my abilities.
Dishan Cal'Der: Dishan lets out a sigh at her thoughtful words, he scratches at his face in thought, leaving a nice lead smudge on his cheek, "I like that," he scribbles a few things down, then starts to fold up his small leather folder and tuck it into his belt. "Well, I will let you continue your personal training. Thank you kindly for your time and thoughts, commander." Dishan inclines his head to her respectfully, "Enjoy your day, I'm sure I will see you again soon."
Kaella: smiles broadly enough that her fangs show a little, "Oh, your timing was good. That was the last thing. I think I'll have a bath and breakfast now," she says as she hops off the wall to stand, "Let me know when you publish, I'd like to see some of these interviews."
Dishan Cal'Der: "Of course," he watches her hop from the wall as he steps away, "Thank you again."
