Forrest travels from Ru in search of the dragon Guild Master he once heard of named Ondine . After 2 days of traveling , he arrives in Sylvhara and asks a local where he could find the Ithryn Guild. Finally arriving , he notices a figure standing in what appears as a place of learning in the open air . Not sure if she can see him approaching , he calls out "Greeting's dear Lady , I'm searching for the Guild Master . He then notices she is partly clothed. His face reddens .
Ondine chuckles as she realizes she is seen as she changes to her biped form.
Ondine grins as the stranger Satyr approaches," Not a good thing to do in front of creatures like yourself.. Just a tedious item for dragons to deal with when biped. A good thing i have access to magics for such things. After all Dragons have no need nor shame in their natural form."
Forrest yes creatures such as satyrs always on the prowl
Forrest opens eyes at her request " thats a beautiful dress. I'm Forrest Mimulus and I'm searching for the Guild Master Ondine Ninetails in hopes of interviewing her for the Great Alliance, do you know where I can find her?"
The Guild Master turns toward the rocks,"Follow me and we can go to my office.
She waves a simple gesture for the rock to slide away so they can enter the lower level of the ithryn Guild.
Forrest watches as the rock slides away to an opening ,follows the Guild Master into her office. looks around and immediately notices the various staffs behind her and wonders what each one is for , if anything , but decides that question can wait . Thank you for agreeing to this interview. I have 4-5 questions to ask . Let's get started shall we? " He readies his parchment and writing lead. First question: "How did you wind up in the realm of Sylvhara?" And how long have you been a resident here?"
Ondine gestures to the chair."I am not sure you find human furniture comfortable but I am obliged to offer it to guests anyways."
Forrest looks to the chair, smiles and takes a seat.
"I came to Sylvhara many years ago and Pak Haedong's ward." she shuffles in her seat finding a comfortable position," He was the realm of Sylvhara's first Arch Mage. "
"I was but a small hatchling at that time. Both he and the Lord Malikith assisted in my training over the years. It seemed i had a talent for the darker arts. Necromancy being favored, Lord Malikith took me on as apprentice for many years
From then on I continue to use the dark to serve the Queen. "
"Pak Haedong left for new adventures long ago, although he does visit occasionally. '
" And Yes, I came with Pak shortly after the realms were first occupied and evolved to what they are today. So a very long time."
Forrest stops writing for a moment to look at her and listens while she talks.
"After Pak Haedong left i took on the position as Guild lead that he had held in grand esteem . It was left to me to oversee the training of the Queen's mages both dark and light.
After all..All dark is not evil as all light is not good."
Forrest nods and begins to write again ." Very interesting. Okay next question. What kind of things were you planning to do here? And have you done them"?
"One would think that to be an easy question but as one grows and as one experiences their environment, " Ondine leans forward, "Plans come and go according to need and response to many things. However, As a dragon it is my nature to be protective and territorial. The Queen and her subjects have have always been my first concern. To see to their well being and to keep the constant threat of evil away from Queen Comet's land."
"Yes I have personal goals. "
"My curiosity first and foremost about may things...such as to my beginnings. This brought me to find my father...an ancient water dragon and necromancer." Ondine pauses a moment as if remembering," I have never known the mother from which I came."
" No matter." she says dismissively," Dragons live the long life. Much to be processed and known. To all things I seek knowledge ...: All knowledge. And knowing that even Dragons Die I plan for a means beyond death to continue that quest".
Ondine decides that the subject of beyond death is something she will move past for now and mumbles ,"Few mortal creatures understand the thirst for power and knowledge of the mages."
Forrest writes fervently as he finds her story very intriguing
The Moon Dragon grins, "You are a curious creature. I have only seen one other of your kind. What say you of knowledge? would you willingly become an undead to continue your existence? .....or....power?"
Forrest stops writing and smiles at the unexpected question. My kind are few in the realms of the Great Alliance . Satyrs are curious by nature and most , contrary to common belief are not only after drink and pleasure , but some seek knowledge and are interested in other's stories and experiences."
Ondine nods stoically,"Aye I have seen even the lowest of creatures evolve once they become self aware. Sometimes beyond mere pleasures of the flesh. But then, some of the great masters found worthy paths to knowledge within the fundamental form they have been given".
Forrest nods in knowing agreement
Ondine continues,"It amazes me over and over that both the dark and the light may enact both good and evil. Perhaps they too seek balance .
I do not mean to bore you. Proceed with the next question."
Forrest smiles again . Not bored at all, I find you interesting and intriguing . I chose to just allow you say in words what is on your mind, it makes the interview that much more interesting. I believe most beings of any race have the capability of both good and evil . I have a couple more questions before we wrap up. "Are there any new things you want to do but haven't done yet"?
"As far as The Ithryn Guild, I still watch over the students, teachers, and Arch Mage to insure their safety and success in seeking knowledge.I continue to teach classes when needed and insure that there are pleasant events to keep the Queen's residents entertained....all the while I watch over the realm and am ready at any time to use the powers I have acquired to see all stays in balance."
Ondine lifts her head with a lighter tone,"Personally .I have an endless thirst for knowledge. And I will spend days ,weeks and even longer periods of time seeking that knowledge from far corners of this plane and others.
Many of things I have shared with the more gifted students of the Ithryn."
Forrest nods in understanding and agreement. " I too have that thirst for knowledge ."
" To do this...I must live the long life and beyond."
Ondine smiles slightly."At whatever cost it takes.
Sitting back and folding her arms, she tips her head slightly while leveling a gaze on the Satyr,"Interesting...If you should ever be inspired for another path....you are welcome to seek me out for discussions on such a path. However few are chosen and fewer finish training without disappearing if they fall short."
Ondine bellows a laugh,"I am sorry .I could not resist. many think I eat those that fall short cause they suddenly disappear."
Forrest laughs at her "joke" about eating others , hoping he isn't on her menu . "one never knows where their path may lead or evolve to"
" However it IS true that all students swear a vow of silence once they begin their training. And we cannot have the knowledge of mages in common hands."
Forrest stops writing and pulls out his sharpening tool from its pouch to sharpen the writing lead before continuing. Last question . "Is there anything else you would like to say or anything you would like readers to know about you"?
"Not really. I find the silly rumors and misconceptions , over the years, about the Moon Dragon Guild Master Ondine to be amusing and useful The rest about me is revealed only to those that truly want to engage and learn"
" I suppose the one thing most do not fully know is how fiercely loyal to Queen Comet and her subjects and relentless in my pursuit of balance in the kingdom."
Forrest smiles and nods again "Fair enough" finishes writing the last dictation then rolls up the parchment and places it and the writing lead in their designated pouch. " I thank you much for taking the time to allowing me to interview you . It has been enlightening indeed. I must be on my way now, many things to see while I'm here ." Rises from his chair .
The Guild Master stands to signal she is finished and nods warmly to the Satyr,"Thankyou for coming at this time. I hope this conversation proves useful ."
" The Ithryn welcomes all to a place of learning the magical arts. If you should so choose, in the years to come, to test this path,....I am here."
Forrest yes, yes , useful indeed and thank you again for having me and I know where to find you if my path changes "
With that Ondine slices an opening in the aethers and steps through without goodbyes... leaving the Satyr to find his way out.
Forrest looks around and finds the place where he first entered , finds it closed and manages to find his way out another way.
